A330 EROPS CNX?
What's this I hear re: recent decision by CAA to cnx A330 EROPS due to some incursions into the worldwide powerplant reliability rate? Any truth or just bull?

I haven't heard anything to back that up but if it were true a few people at BMI would have a sense of humour failure.

May refer to the recent problems with the P & W 4000 which went bang twice recently. Compare that to the United 767 which went quiet over the Pacific - makes you think don't it !

Count your engines, divide by two. If you get an odd number or a fraction just don't do it (to paraphrase a Nike slogan).

if u are having a bad enough day to lose a donk at 40w in a twin a/c, then "Murphy" is close by. basically if you are unlucky enough to lose one, whats to say you won't lose the other ???
ETOPS. Engines Turn Or Passengers Swim |
The ETOPS extensions/concessions are a function of the power plant reliability.
The UK registered A330's are all A330-243’s, therefore powered by the RR TRENT772B-60. If your rumor were to be true it is not a function of the A330 airframe, but a function of the reliability of the RR TRENT772B-60. Are you saying that the UK CAA is suggesting that the TRENT772B-60 is an unreliable engine ? That is a fairly big call for a regulator to make of a home grown product. The GE and P&W power plants have cousins on other airframes and this rumor would be reflected in both the Boeing and Airbus camps. No GE or P&W A330 airframes are register in the UK. [This message has been edited by Zeke (edited 01 April 2001).] |
Zeke, Don't worry, winter's nearly over, the lake will unfreeze soon and you will be able to go outside again. In the meantime, remain calm and try to get some rest.

Javelin,
My apologies for providing a post which may assist NotMyJob answer his question. I thought you were an Airtours A330 pilot who would know what type of engines you have on the A330s in the UK. |
