Thomas Cook-My Trouble to shed airframes and crews
Industry sources confirm Thommy Crook and Mytrouble to shed about ten airframes and crews in the next six. Sounds about the right figure.

And what source was this?
|
Thomsonfly/First Choice are getting rid of 10 airframes before summer '09.
Regards. |
What????
Thought they were looking to get a couple MORE a/c this year, but couldn't get 75's. Koi, you sure you're not getting confused with the 75's being returned as leases are up?
T:suspect: |
tcook
2 of the older 75's are returning off lease this october. Not heard of any others. They have not been able to extend the lease as they have already been bought for freighter conversions.
|
The question to be asked agian is: Where did you hear this Koi, and who's your source? Think you might be getting your wires x'd with Thompson/jetset!
T:suspect: |
I think everybody with older aircraft is gonna find it tough at 130 dollars a barrel.:(
|
KOI - Bo*****s.
Cheers. |
maybe, but whilst everybody has got to ride out the storm of the oil prices, I think it would be a BIG mistake to make serious future business plans based on the current blip in the oil futures market.
IMO this is just another bubble, but this time in the commodities market, the oil futures, gold futures, corn / wheat / rice etc are all a blip and WILL have a serious correction in the near future. Anyone that has completely rejigged their fleet, at considerable capital expense, to give them a competative advantage at $130 a barrel may find themselves in a deep hole at $60 a barrel, with nowhere near enought competative advantage to payback all the releasing / retraining costs. |
One aspect that hasn't been brought up in this tread is, how are the holidays selling at the present time? Rumour has it that bookings/seat sales have died in the last 4-6 weeks. And when I say died I mean dead as a do-do. There could well be some truth in this. It is time to get worried.
|
Wouldnt surprise me in TCook \ MyTrouble - there is so much cost cutting going on. Rumour internally is that some support positions were placed under consultation last month. There's also alot of "underhand" stuff ongoing internally since the merger too. We can only wait & see what happens now I guess.
|
Are you scaremongering again Koi?
Like you did on the BA-openskies debate. Tvvat. |
Koi - what utter horses**t.
:= |
I'm sorry but IMHO this is complete rubbish, the airline CEO has been instructed to come up with plans for fleet replacement by middle of this year and to inform the board hence the meeting with Boeing and Airbus earlier in the year.
As has been said earlier Thomson are reducing but that is just merger reduction. |
Hmm....lets think about that one shall we? For an company currently looking at fleet renewal plus a rumoured possible extra line of flying that was subject to aircraft availability? Think you have your wires crossed mate. Would be interested in your source.
|
Scaremongering or bitter? He is ex MYT after all...... :=
|
During these blips in fuel prices, I see retaining older airframes until their planned retirement, though slightly more expensive in overall fuel costs, are still much cheaper than the millions that updating would cost, plus retraining costs, earlier than required.
Stick with the development plans, and weather the storm! Cheers...FD...:\ |
Rumour has it that bookings/seat sales have died in the last 4-6 weeks. Just stop listening and believing all the cr.p that's in the media. http://streamstudio.world-television...6361&target=en |
Vrille,
Maybe some people are actually better informed than some. Remember when MYT were telling the markets, shareholders and the media everything was rosy in the garden when they had a 800 million black hole in the background. We will see. As it says on the packaging this is a rumour network. |
What a few of you fail to comprehend, is that most of the MYT bosses have gone. Thomas Cook is now run predominantly by ex Thomas Cook management. Stop bleating on about the old MYT debacle. I agree they were mismanaged. The airline with it's ex myt managment mafia are just a tiny bit of the big Thomas Cook, which has been making lots of money for years. You do the maths..
