Flying into Kenya
 

Are any of the major airlines having difficulty flying into or out of Kenya at present? We in Tanzania are hearing rumors there is no Jet A1 at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta.

Ops normal for flights going to 'Jomo'.
Uplifting 70 tonnes of JetA1 daily so no worries. :ok:

same situation for wilson? taking a 206 there and wondering whether they have any, can get hold of the Shell/BP station at wilson, any ideas or suggestions? Can Jomo provide fuel for a 206? Any priorities for airlines? Or will anyone get served?

Call your fuel company, for Wilson call yr rep also for upcountry.

With respect, these folks are asking about fuel availability in country. Sod the UK F&CO stuff, that's for tourists. If you have fuel availability knowledge, post it.

I don't think there is any point Refueling Empty Passengerous Aircraft??:ugh:

If you don't refuel the aircraft, how can it (and its crew) leave? Just because it's got no SLF doesn't mean it flies on fresh air.

that is the point, does anyone know if there is fuel at wilson or not? would be mighty embarassing to fly there, if fuel or not, regardless of the british home office or not!!!!! and who the hell are they are dedicate fuel levels or not, stay releveant or not!

Jomo doesn't have AVGAS
Call Tradewinds and maybe they can tell you if Jet A is available or like most people said call the fuel company's.
For wilson try calling one of the operators over there to see what the real story is.

Just read in the regional news that Uganda has a problem as fuel, as it cannot be tranported from the port of Mombassa due to the unrest. I guess it would be the same reason to experience problems with fuel at Nairobi. There is fuel in the port of Mombassa, but it cannot be transported to the various airports.

Mombasa - Nairobi fuel transfer for petrol is a pipeline - so should not be a problem for long.

As of 04 Jan 0845UTC there are no reported fuel supply problems with any of the Kenyan airports if i here anything will let you all know

A cautionary tale from 1979:
 

A BA Flight Engineer was rostered to slip in Teheran. Every night the impending revolution was on the TV news, riots and stonings etc.. The engineer’s wife became concerned and persuaded her husband to ring BA to ask, in view of the TV images of generals being beaten up etc., “Is it safe to slip in Teheran?” “Oh yes” came the reply, “We take our advice from the Foreign Office.” Wife is unconvinced and persuades Eng to ring the MNOA (the then union). Same question, same answer. Wife is unconvinced and persuades hubbie to ring the Foreign Office. He gets through to the relevant desk and says that he is planning to visit Teheran on business and, in view of the shocking images on the television, asks: “Is if safe to visit in Teheran?” “Oh yes,” says the FO man on the Iran desk, “BA is still landing!” :confused:

No problems yesterday at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta as I picked up a good load of Jet A1! Did hear AvGas only available at Wilson.
