Story about Virgin requesting priority landing on a local Kenyan Newspaper

Earlier, there was panic at JKIA in morning when all departments were put on alert after a plane crew requested for an emergency landing.
Pilots of a Virgin Atlantic flight that was scheduled to land from London called the control tower and requested for an emergency landing after detecting a technical problem.
Police, the fire brigade and ambulance teams were called in, according to the standard emergency procedures.
The flight is alleged to have experienced a technical problem with the hydraulic system of the landing gear, compelling the pilots to request for an emergency landing as a precaution.
Land safely
However, what was thought to be a major emergency situation turned to be a precautionary measure by the pilots who managed to land safely, much to the passengers’ relief.
Flights scheduled to land at the airport were temporarily disrupted but resumed an hour later.
Virgin Atlantic said their flights would resume on Saturday as scheduled

Ayone know anything about this?

Oh my god. Well done to everyone involved. I still find it surprising in our modern times, that aircraft experience technical problems. We have to be honest and thank both Boeing and Airbus for having the presence of mind to design in system redundancy. If it was not for that foresight, who knows what could have happened.

Again, well done!

Yes i'm sure there was panic in the skies as the crew valiantly battled to save the hundreds of people on board. Give me a break.
A technical problem with the aircraft meant the crew followed sop's and returned to the airport to get it looked at. Sounds like a standard non event to me.
Where do journo's learn this stuff!!:*

Must be a very big newspaper then, sort of long but thin :ugh:

Reading the article, I don't think it was even that... It was the inbound ex-London flight landing as scheduled...

Thank Goodness that they narrowly avoided the schools and local hospital, thereby saving hundreds of women and children.

What a let off.

Tezzer,

It's my understanding that the crew fought valiantly against unbelievable odds and risked life and limb to miss the schools and local hospital. Your statement belittles this 'fact' :}

So, reading the above contributions to this thread, which are probably more pathetic than the newspaper reports, it is clear that nobody knows anything about it...

If the first post is correct, then it seems that it was a minor incident that resulted in a precautionary landing.

Notwithstanding the professionalism of the crew, I think you will find that the ensuing posts are actually having a dig at the standard of reporting that is prevalent in newspapers around the world.

A uniformly low standard, hampered by many journalists unwillingness to actually research the industry.

anotherthing.

I agree with you but as most of us are professionals who know about the innacurate reporting of the press why contribute to it..

I know i'm doing it now!!!!!!1

Oh my god..........

it is amazing how the crew can hear themselves think over the screaming terrified passengers !!!!

Think of Danny having to host all this $$$$$$ ...... :(

And the real irony? The original report looks to be understated, factual, non-sensational. Which just shows where the real bias lies. :hmm:
