Emergency Landing at Gatwick
My Parents returned from Warsaw today on flight CO 0253 to Gatwick scheduled to arrive at 1540.
Unfortunately after going around once or twice the captain announced an emergency landing and instructed the passengers to adopt the brace position. My parents are extremely grateful to have made it safely and would like to extend their thanks to the crew. They would also like to know what caused the aircraft to require an emergency landing. I would be very grateful if anyone could shed any light on this. Thanks a lot |
The aircraft suffered some problem with the right hand undercarriage apparently so did a 'fly by' visual inspection with nothing untowards noted by ATC etc. so went around and landed safely.

It was CLW253 - Central Wings.

Thanks ATCO Two, so that would be a 734 then?
Glad it all worked out okay. |
Just to aid those trying to understand this, C0 (Letter C digit 0) is the IATA flight indicator (ICAO code CLW) for Central Wings of Poland, whereas CO (letters) is IATA for Continental Airlines. It leads to confusion, particularly at places like Gatwick where they both operate.
