Iranian Plane Catches Fire, Killing 60 Passengers, AFP Reports
An Iranian airliner on a domestic flight caught fire while landing in the northeastern city of Mashhad, killing at least 60 passengers, Agence-France Presse reported, citing state-run television. The plane, with 140 passengers, was a Russian-made Tupolev coming from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, AFP reported. It burst into flames after a tire blew upon landing, the news agency said. State television didn't immediately give the condition of the other 80 passengers, AFP said. |
Sadly another Tupelov incident. Was this a Tu-154?

CNN says:
pilot survied and spoke to iranian transport minister, who then said: a tyre burst on landing and then the airplane swerved (spelling?) of the RWY. don't know nothing about tupolews, but this explanation is kinda weak IMHO. |
Aircraft is EP-MCF according to AirlinerNews.com
