AL starts strengthening cockpit doors
Thursday, October 25, 2001 at 09:30 JST TOKYO — Japan Airlines Co (JAL) on Wednesday started measures to strengthen cockpit doors in airplanes in a bid to prevent hijackings in the wake of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The measures include additional bolts to reinforce cockpit doors on 159 airplanes owned by its six group companies, JAL said. It is the first time a Japanese airline company has taken such measures. :cool: |
