bmir 146 bites the dust

Have just heard that the BAe146 fleet is to be scapped - does this mean more pilots on the lookout for work, or are these people going on to bmibaby, or over to the Emb145s?

No transfers, just more people looking for a job I'm sorry to report

Whisky Bills lies when employing the 146 drivers (mostly former Debonair and some Malmoe Aviation) are facing the light. There was never ever any interest in the crews beyond the 146 work.... .Good luck to all.

I feel the most for the ex-Debonair guys who find them selfs out of work for the second time in two years.

Lets face it, this was always on the cards and BMC never wanted the 146's in the first place. Lets hope the 146 crews will get jobs with companies that DO want them.

Just thought this might help, I am sure the crews already know but CityJet are looking for people on 146's as I have just applied via the online form.. .. .http://www.cityjet.com. .. .Best of luck to you all.

Jobs were offered to just a few TRE/IRE,s and the Fleet manager based in GLA dont know how many, if any have accepted. There is no transfer agreement in place between bmir and bmi baby,if there was i know of a few people quite senior on the 145 who would jump at the chance at the moment ,just to stay in the East Midlands

Its not just the Debonair guys and girls who are out of work-there are a number who gave up jobs for the promise of a future within the bmi group(laugh) and who, had they stayed would still be gainfully employed.. .P.s.I can't believe how happy I was to see the Germans give the Jocks such a stuffing! If Scotland had swapped for the Stansted base then you might have seen a bit of passion-apart from the jessie of a so called non base manager(don't worry I've got a barbie jet rating and a bird in EMA)who would have spent the whole match on the sidelines not getting involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"there are a number who gave up jobs for the promise of a future within the bmi group(laugh) ". .. .I'm not sure that this was ever an option, was it? Wasn't it a wet lease or am I mistaken?. . . . [ 30 March 2002, 01:51: Message edited by: Captain Speaking ]

Captain Speaking. .. .Our letter offering employment stated " your employment is permanent". No mention of wetlease or short-term contract.. .Paul Yarnold went to great pains in my interview to reiterate I was a permanent employee. I like many others did not come from Debonair.
