Guess that if you live in Angola, it´s not a bad chance to go for an overnight in Paris. Looks like the whole company goes for that.

Forget about bidding for a nightstop, they just take everybody along, haha. :E :E

Does anyone know if this a/c went off the end or the side? Were they trying to make a turnoff? 08R is 'only' 2,700 metres compared with the other side, which is 4,200.

How are they recovering it?

I'd love to see the runway friction readings that should have been taken immediately afterwards (though probably not much chance!)

I believe this isn't the first 747 they've had off the end of the runway - the last one was scrapped, but presumably a -300 is worth a bit more...

I took off from Paris CDG 15 mins after the 747 left the runway. All runways were closed except 09R. There were only up to 35 mins delays departing but yp to 3 hours arriving.

The aircraft left the runway " trying" to make the last exit. The controllers had asked the pilots to expedite leaving the runway.

I landed on 26R today, parallel to where the accident happened, there were major skid marks for about 200 yards which then veered off to the left hand side of the runway.

There were no reports of the accident on the news, and the A/C was removed over night!!!!!

There surely was the news about it on FR3 because I've seen it.
It also was on newspapers, as you can see from the link reported above fom Libération, and I saw it on Le Figaro, and on web news http://fr.news.yahoo.com/041104/85/44lq3.html.

saw the 747 yesterday..... major drag with the departure slot, not nice to see but had the novelty of landing back on 26R.

All wheels buried in mud, went off end of runway about 60m but veered to left by about 30deg so looks like no frangible objects neeted to prove their frangibility, IE approach lights. dont know the details as how happened but as seems the norm with this site hate would hate to speculate, just the facts jack, just the facts.

was waiting from 600Z but saw pax leave at 900 Z. long time to sit on ac after 6 hour flight.

Chippy 24 Crew.?? Well it was a 747-300, which would normally carry 16 or 18 crew. If TAAG were "Economising" like one of my former employers, extra crew deadheading on the way out, woke up on the ground in Paris, and swapped with their Buddies, it would may be possible to do a turnround with minimum crew if the max pax rules were applied using the booked SLF figures.
