BA 777 diverted to Manchester due smoke

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned here, given that a goaround at LHR is normally discussed before the 'culprit' has cleared the M25!

BA219 (LHR-Denver) diverted into Manchester last night at about 1750. Not heard any facts as such, but smoke in the cockpit has been reported. G-YMMD was still parked on the Western Apron this morning. Presumably the usual professional job all round, especially given the lack of headlines!

Anyone got more details pending the AAIB report in the New Year?

Covered here already

Is this not becoming a familiar refrain: guy next to me has made six flights on BA 777s in the last 6 weeks and four had delays due to technical problems, including one emergency landing. Is BA not looking after them quite as well as it used to? They are certainly starting to look very tatty.

Are there published statistics anywhere which would identify trends in reliability by airline?

The RR powered ones seem to be letting the side down then.
