Well that's interesting isn't it. Are the flights still operating from MAN to ORD and IAD, or have they moved to Gatwick? Also interesting is the license to serve Toronto from Manchester and Glasgow. Air Canada already has a flight routeing YYZ-MAN-GLA-YYZ. Will bmi codeshare or operate their own flights? Will AC pull out? I see the Star Alliance has kept its virtual monopoly on services to Canada.

bmi british midland has applied for a number of new longhaul route licences since joining the Star Alliance. As I understand it the majority of those applications are to enable code share operations on other Star carriers. There are some however, that are probably intended for bmi use. I should think that the routes ex-MAN would be covered in that category. If a route is currently operated by another Star operator then that is most likely intended to be a codeshare application.

Thumbs up

Where on the CAA website did you find this info ?
I heard recently that bmi had been approved to oeprate 17 new long haul routes out of LHR and LGW , of these Sydney , Singapore and Havana were served from LHR , and Denver from LGW .
Do you have any idea of what the other destinations are ?

I wonder if bmi are planning to transatlantic from MAN(aswell as ORD & IAD) and LGW , and operate services to the rest of the world from LHR .
It's intersting to note that all the destinations served from MAN are United Airlines hubs , ORD , IAD (planned SFO and DEN) .
