Talking bmi/Virgin at it again???

Just heard a rumour from a reliable source contracting over in Dublin.
Apparently there's a VAA B747 in the FLS hangar over there, and it's half in VAA livery and half in bmi livery! It's being kept under wraps in the hangar, with limited access only. Like I say, the source is normally reliable, but can anyone shed any light on this??? What do bmi want with a B747, to cover the new LHR - Tenerife route perhaps! You know how busy these summer destinations can get...

I think someone is pulling your leg!!

The 747 in question is actually in Dublin being refitted with the new Virgin Atlantic Upper Class cabin and seats. The refit has been under tight security to avoid prying eyes leading up to the official launch of the new seat last wednesday.

Would anyone from BMI like to comment on a meeting attended by Mr Bishop "alledgedly" on the Isle of Man on Thursday last !
Sorry to be cryptic.

Firstly, VA aircraft are regular visitors to FLS in Dublin, to have various mods done, so I wouldn't attach too much to that.

Secondly, why should Mr. Bishop's trip to the IOM have anything to do with Virgin?

Thirdly, given the generally favourable reaction (judging by this board alone, which isn't always uniformly enthusiastic), there is clearly a welcome for such a move. It also makes a lot of sense; both are good quality carriers with a complementary route system and I would hope that both RB and MB would recognise that whatever their past differences, a deal between them would make sense, for both carriers.
