Professional pilot unemployment forum
Love the PPRuNe thing, but for the unemployed professional pilot amongst us..
Can any of you (Professional Pilots only please, those who are under 60 who are completely currently engaged in the proffesion) recommend somewhere (A professional pilot forum) , where we can discuss and talk about future employment for those with say with 5-20 years experience with say 5000-20000 flying hours who are now for whatever reason find themselves looking for knowledge and news regarding employment post vivid-19.. Please, no mention of any of those agencies that plague the the industry.. Just plain, simple places to share knowledge.. Tx
It’s just that I cannot find any sub-forum that caters for us professionals currently looking for work.. Tx ..

What about the poor bloke just out of line training with just little over 100 hours on type? Or the average low-cost carrier FO with around 2000 hours or just 2 years of experience? You are being very selective.

I like all of us am staring down the barrel of unemployment. Going crazy flicking through daytime tele (which doesn't seem to have improved despite everyday now being practically a Sunday?) and looking out at the good weather thinking how a nice 4 sector day across our fine British Isles would go down. I moan like I always did, but enjoying a good moan and talking nonsense all day with a captain who's on his 4th divorce is something I do miss. Those overpriced hotel dinners with our good acquaintances from down the back, some smart, some pretty, some questionable ... ahhh. At home no one seems to enjoy complaining like we did at work. No less moaning about all the moaning. The cabin crew? what on earth are they moaning about now. Indeed I feel out of place in my domicile.
Alas it isn't going to be returning anytime soon. I agree with your idea. Though I don't quite have 5 to 20 years experience ... it will be a lot harder for those like me to find another job.
Nevertheless we shall prevail, battered and bruised our careers may be, though our spirit is sure to be enhanced through these tumultuous times of ours.
Anyhow a quick search of employment offers shows that if you have more than 1000 hours jet ... there are opportunities in EVA on the 787 and various other far east carriers. I don't fit the bill however ... anyone something to offer in return?

Sorry for sidetrack but for the 2000 hour FO/cadets out there, how’s about taking this time to go back to GA and do a little real flying..maybe do an instructor rating and pass on some of your knowledge? If there’s any money in your account then going on some cross country missions in a light plane is an awesome way to spend a nice afternoon..and it might keep some aeroclubs out of insolvency.

This must be one of the most out of touch comments I’ve seen on PPRuNe. You really think at this time there’s going to be an abundance of student PPL’s or schools desperate for instructors! GA flying is a luxury and let’s face it you could probably earn more driving a multi drop delivery van than instructing PPL’s. The 2000hr guys will likely have training loans to repay/mortgage kids etc.
Saying your going off to do an hour in a c152 is a waste of money, if money is tight for a recently made redundant FO. Would be better saving the money to keep your rating current in the sim.
