Flight Deck Drinks Ban
Rumour is Notam about to be issued banning all drinks and fluids from A350 flight decks with imediate affect.
Apparently follows recent incidents where drinks were spilled on the centre consol resulting in unrecoverable engine shut down.

A NOTAM is information about airfield, facilities etc.
A notice to pilot is a company specific notice with a change in procedure or recommendation from the manufacturer etc.
You can’t ban all drinks from an airliners flightdeck, there’s a little issue with the pilots being human and requiring to not be dehydrated to function .
Where’s this “ rumour “ from ? Builders in the local pub ?

Rest assured though, right now some HR focused, management climber is investigating the fuel savings to be had if crew water isn't loaded. A nice little KPI project right there.

On this topic. It is a little ridiculous that flight deck are still being given thin paper cups with flimsy lids in this day and age. There was an incident several months ago with a Condor flight heading from Germany to Cancun..Sometimes in turbulence, even with a lid, copious amounts of hot drink finds its way out of the tiny hole in the lid. I guess it'll take a serious incident to change this. Go to any major supermarket and the baby aisle will have these anti-spill cups. Should be standard issue for pilots.

They make keyboard covers, so why not centre console covers, a bit thicker than shrink wrap but having some shape. Knobs turnable and levers leverable, and rip off in a moment should it become necessary.
I restore watches that have backs, bezels, pushers and crowns all tested to 100M, why can aircraft kit that costs bazillions be so leaky?

Given this thread started with talks of a “NOTAM” and then later it was revealed that the source was a “insecure radio transmission” I’m joining some previous correspondents in ATM suspecting this is more likely the work of galley FM or some “banter” than anything more credible...
I’d agree it is a good rumour.....

I believe Ernest K Gann distanced himself from the film. Having watched the trailer in post #19, I can see why. I've read the book many times, but have no desire to watch the film.
