In the US that word is widely and regularly used inside certain groups. Woe betide an outsider who recounts it however. There are similar forces at play in the gay community. Lots to read on the internet about cultural appropriation should you be interested.
Sadly behavior like that is far from uncommon; I've had one (very) near in air divert, and one police/EMS onboard this month. I think larger forces are at play in the US, and the heat doesn't help...

Wow, just wow. There are certainly some anger issues here. What happens to someone's brain when they go off like this? Is it pleasurable for them to be this angry and abusive? I hope she gets charged and is convicted; it would be nice is she were banned from flying by the airline.

Thanks Seat 4A for the link. That's a video of one of the most disgusting human beings I've ever seen. Remedies for such actions should not be gentle in nature. Who was she calling "nigga" in the first place? Her seat mate appeared to be White. A guy in the row ahead appeared to be Black. An unhinged mind is bereft of logic. Oh well, lock her up!
