Hopefully, if they do attempt this, it will force the authorities to do what they should have done on day 2. Stop them. London has joined Parliament as a global laughing stock.

I remember years ago a journalist on Newsnight did an experiment where he tried to reduce his carbon footprint. It took place over the course of a year and the segment was called "Ethical Man". His family car was taken away for the year and the whole family had to use public transport, or bike or go on foot. They changed their energy supplier for a green tariff, replaced all the light bulbs with low energy versions (the norm now), improved insulation, turned the heating down a couple of degrees, looked to install a wind turbine (didn't pan out), sourced local food where possible to reduce food miles etc. In short they did everything that could reasonably be expected a private individual could do consistent with their current standard of life. They also did not take any short-haul flights during that period. They managed to reduce their carbon emissions by 20%. What I remember clearly is after end of the experiment, he and his family went off for a well deserved holiday in the Caribbean. The carbon emissions for that single long haul trip offset the entire carbon emissions they had saved during the experiment.

So whilst most of us agree that we need to reduce carbon emissions to stop the harmful effects of global warming, I'm not sure that many are willing to make the sacrifices that would be needed.

Tell them there's been a chemtrail spillage.
That'll send 'em scuttling away.

Well, it's nice that at least one person recognises there's a problem.

I'm personally happy to have given up flying, and haven't boarded a plane since 2010. But I guess advocating not flying on this particular forum is going to go down as well as asking for a steak recipe on a vegan forum or putting forward the case for gun control on a site for gun nuts.

It's all tremendously sad, how short-sighted we all are - and I include myself in this - focused on our short-term selfish goals. It's particularly sad if you have small children.

Judging how these protesters have been treated in London, or not, and Heathrow's past form with protestors I'm extremely glad I'm not flying anywhere over the Easter break.

The Washington state governor considers himself to be quite the eco warrior - and is even running for POTUS on a climate change platform.
A couple years ago he hired a 'climate change czar' to head up Washington states effort at protecting the environment.
Turns out this 'czar's' wife teaches in Morocco. So he commuted to Olympia, Washington from Morocco at least once a month. No carbon footprint there
I really wish I was making this up - I'm not...

If they let this lot cripple our infrastructure at the Easter holiday, we’ll finally work out the police have lost all grip.

Possible LHR disruption by eco anarchists.

Huge tracts the size of entire countries gone.Perhaps the eco folks should be concentrating on countries and companies who are responsible.
what spoils the eco argument is blaming Heathrow for the spike in air pollution in SW London forgetting that the M4/M25 motorways cross here. More diesel vehicles pass this junction in 15 minutes than the entire daily movement of aircraft in 24 hours.
So yes, many of the statements about anthropomorphic climate change are false or exaggerated but not all

There are about 15 posh schoolboy type teenagers at EGLL all crying when interviewed on Sky News about how they don’t want to be the last generation on the planet and the rest of us have stuffed it up for them.

After watching their dramatic tear filled performance I have come to the conclusion that it’s probably best the human race calls it quits soon.

Do as I say not as I do!

The best example of all time is Obama burning 300 tonnes of aviation fuel, just to go to Paris for the day to sign the Climate Change Accord.
You couldn't make it up!

Maybe the cause of the climate problem simply comes down to the fact that there are far to many people on this planet. It's overstocked with humans.!

Gove NT has a very good point. Airline pilots are, or should, be, valuable witnesses for both ecological and weather changes that are happening globally.
In my 30 yr career I have noticed:
Reduction of sea ice around the coast of Greenland.
Increase of cloud cover around the Canary Islands and surrounding ocean.
Rain forest destruction in SE Asia by Palm Plantations.
Increased Jetstream activity and associated turbulence.

Obviously this is anecdotal rather than scientific evidence, but if it looks like a dog, barks like a dog etc. Personally, I'm convinced that Global Warming is a phonomema, I'm not convinced that Man Made Climate Change is the reason for it.

I've been saying so for years, every time there's a food shortage.
The only answer is cannibalism.

I'm not volunteering, I smell of wee and I'm old and chewy. But I'm happy to be garden fertiliser once my time is up. As long as I don't go on broccoli - I hate the stuff.
