Death penalty for distracting pilots!!

Apparently, tourists risk the death penalty for being on a beach with a camera, as it is distracting pilots....

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...h-penalty.html

Quote
"Tourists taking beach selfies while planes take-off have angered airport chiefs in Thailand - who warned the maximum penalty for distracting pilots is the death sentence."
All highly reasonable and sensible, not a hint of over-reaction there at all, eh?!

But has anyone explained that it is impossible to see down at such an angle when seated and strapped in to the pilots' seats - unless they have x-ray vision to see through the aluminium of the fuselage? Just sayin.....

Mods, please feel free to move this after the immediate 'News' angle doesn't fit with R&N.

Debunked as fake news by the Thai government. Made it to the national newspapers here. This is a police state run by an authoritarian junta, but not up to this point.
EDIT : "fake news" maybe not exactly, but a sentence taken completely out of context. Thai officials tend to speak first and think later, which tends to cause silly phrases appearing in statements.

And if you survive the lobotomy that comes from read the Daily Mail, the issue appeared to be more around drones and shining lights at the planes, not people taking photos. But don't let that stop the sub editor creating a clickbait headline.

Re the pic above, assuming that the lass is English, there'd be 2 reds on the APAPI.

Death Penalty

Id rather see the 'Death Penalty' for the 'Trash Media outlets', 'Trash, so called reporters' and 'Trash, so called Editors' they call 'News' now, in the newspapers and TV.

I stopped reading the paper or watching the news many years ago.

Australian trash TV news are like a bad reality tv episode, which are unwatchable.

I believe that aircraft is 2 'Red" Dots low on the approach.

To be fair to the couple on the beach they appear to have achieved a clean configuration with all surfaces retracted and are in a stable regime without the aid of any Manouevering Characteristics Augmentation System

I'll get my own coat, thanks.

I did note, however, that the upper party did not have undercarriage 'down and locked'

Does anyone know what height the aircraft actually are when they come over there?

About 20 feet over the fence. If you're WestJet, about 20 feet a mile out.

The reason I ask is that before too long some stag party will build a human pyramid, just to show it can be done, and someone is going to get hurt. I can also see the selfie stick with an extension to get the "pilot's eye" view. Bang.

To be serious for a change, the ultimate penalty for distracting pilots is death, if you are on the aircraft yourself and you distract the pilots enough at the wrong time. This is just an application of the general principle that "stupidity has always been a capital offence". (Seen attributed to both Heinlein and Niven, but I doubt either of them invented it.)
