Got a couple of shuttle flights coming up soon - would love to see this at the gate. All my early prop-jet memories are BEA Viscounts and Vanguards in this scheme.

Red wings

Sadly it will not have Red Wings, so will only be an approximation of the BEA livery.

Still so much nicer and elegant than today‘s liveries. That goes for the BOAC as well.

I'm told (and we'll know for sure in the next few hours) that it does actually have red undersides to the wings, but not on top.

So the photographers will be pleased, even if the passengers-eye view isn't authentic.

Supposedly the tops of the wings can’t be red due to certification reasons...

Anyone out there throw any light on the reasons?

Wing paint reflectivity requirements apparently.

No, me neither.

Should paint an A319 in the Northeast yellow livery the Tridents use to carry

2 x A319's and 2 x B744's.

They should write "three nineteen" on the engine pods.

fab childhood

as a kid I lived in Guiseley. Which is a few miles from Yeadon aka Leeds Bradford. So all day long in my garden I could watch Tridents, 1-11s, F27s, Viscounts from Dan Air, BA, Air UK etc blast off from LBA and turn left for Pole Hill, right over my garden at 2000ft or so And a weekly DC10 omg. As a 12 year old I watched from my desk in Chemistry Harold Wilson in a Dominie (?) nearly get wiped out by two Belgian (?) F-16s that blew right past him after take-off when they shouldn't have done! And from the same desk the Queen leave in a Dominie, well 3 Dominie's so any Emerald Isle person with naughty intent couldn't muss her hair-do....

Later lived in Colorado Springs and without realising bought a house right under the approach to KCOS which is kinda boring with 737s etc, but also has the Air Force Academy nearby which means all the hotshot USAF pilots landed overhead with Uncle Sam's latest toys...

Just me, or does this particular colour scheme make the 319 look better proportioned than usual ??

It does look good, though....

So the photographers will be pleased
Well, they could have been. If only it had landed on the same runway as everything else!
