QFA 2 fuel Dumping
Just noticed QFA 2 EA380 apparently dumping fuel mid channel south of Dungeness - presumably prior to returning to EGLL. Hope everything turns out all right.

The plane did several loops above the English Channel to dump fuel before turning back the way it came.

Well, if it's loops they did, it'll cost them a D level service... ;-) Just taking the MTOM of 560t and MLM of 368t, at the most extreme that would have set them back about 190t of fuel, about 260k liters, that would be about EUR104k in fuel cost. Could be as little as EUR 60k or so also. I doubt the crew will tell....
A better estimate could be gleaned from how long they were dumping for. According to my FCOM the A380 can dump 150t of fuel per hour.

Guessing - 12T/hour for a <7 hour flight - 84T trip (that's 30T on the plastic fantastic!!!). Add 15T for reserves + diversion + contingency gives 100T at T/O. Given the difference between MZFW and MLW is 25T, then they shouldn't have pumped more than 75T overboard, and I'm guessing they wouldn't be at MZFW on departure so it should be less...
