United Sued Over Alleged Drunk Cargo Pilot Pax Sex Assault

Another lawsuit alleging a pilot sex assault involving alcohol.

From the Daily Mail:

EXCLUSIVE: Colorado woman sues United Airlines after she woke to find drunk, off-duty pilot 'rubbing her crotch while masturbating' during flight - and was told to resolve the incident by 'talking' to her attacker

By BEN ASHFORD FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

A Colorado woman is suing United Airlines for failing to protect her from a drunken passenger who allegedly molested her on a long haul flight after telling cabin crew he was 'horny', DailyMail.com can reveal.

Anne Dowling says she fled her business class seat when she awoke to find Monte Wedl rubbing her crotch and masturbating under a 'rug' during a flight from Hong Kong to San Francisco.

She says she reported 47-year-old Wedl to a flight attendant but was told to resolve the incident by returning to her seat to 'go talk' to her attacker, according to papers filed as part of a civil suit in Colorado District Court.

Cabin crew eventually moved Dowling to another seat further along the same row, however Wedl - a veteran freight pilot with FedEx - continued to 'torment' her as she got off the flight, it's alleged.

Dowling is seeking at least $75,000 in damages from United and Wedl, claiming she was diagnosed with PTSD after the alleged July 2016 attack which caused her 'severe emotional distress.'

A criminal assault complaint was filed against Wedl On December 5, 2016 at the District Court for the Northern District of California but on June 7 the following year he was acquitted of all charges.

As it came from the Daily Mail, the newspaper that struggles with basic English and Grammar, but high on the hyperbole and sensationalism, it was probably in truth, " sleeping passenger accidentally dropped hand on womans leg, woke up and apologized ".

The pilot was later arrested... for impersonating a police officer.

In the criminal trial the accused invoked the familiar Ambien defense and played the obligatory HIMS (HIMS Home) card by going to rehab.

Some folks still seem to get roaring drunk while deadheading internationally on duty.

I've never used Ambien but I'm told that it really can make you do some bizarre things, especially after a couple of drinks.
