As a name, Laudamotion sounds like it's part of the once-mooted airline group ASSO

I suspect a shrewd move to cover fallout from Brexit.

Not bought an airline since 2003, brought a lump to the throat. That was buzz, the LCC subsidiary of KLMuk, and a damn good outfit.

Well, RYR always wanted a piece of the slots of Airberlin, now they got it. All the touristic routes were transferred to Niki which was bought by Lauda and put into Laudamotion and that's that. This includes quite valuable slots in Düsseldorf, München, Frankfurt and Berlin Tegel. And of course a lot of slots in Palma. DUS/MUC and TXL are actually slot restricted, so it is pretty much impossible to get good slots through the normal channels.

Brexit should really not be a thing here, both RYR and Laudamotion are EU carriers anyway.

So the EU blocked an IAG takeover due to 'conflicts of Court Jurisdictions' and now another UK carrier gets it through the back door? Is that right?
Sounds like Micko pulled a fast one on his old frenemy Willy.
How much did Lauda pay for it? He must be laughing all the way to the Bank. Sold on after just 2 months!
Sounds like the regulators/Courts dropped the ball bigtime.

Thing is, the Republic of Ireland, where Ryanair is homebased, is not part of the UK. It is, and for the time being will remain, in the EU.

I believe Lauda paid something like 50 Million for it, Micko paid less than 50 Million for a 25% stake in Laudamotion, with an option to increase that stake to 75%.

Lufthansa (Group) couldn't buy Niki because it would be too much (100% instead of 99%...) and now Laudamotion is flying for Eurowings, yes part of the Lufthansa Group.

The EU is just a joke!
