MH370 Update
The latest weekly report from the MH370 search was posted this morning:

It reports that as of Monday (the 11th), 24,000 square kilometers of the primary search area had been completed - with nothing found.
However, this is at odds with the graphics and other reports. The first weekly report, published in January, reported that the primary search area was 25,000 square kilometers - which would mean that 96% of this area had been completed. But the graphics in the current report show that only about 60% of that area has been completed.
The primary search area is where they most expect to find MH370. If they fail to find it there, there are two extended areas that they will search.

ABC News in Australia is quoting Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, leader of the MH370 Response Team, as saying that Malaysia has formally asked that Australia take the lead role in examining debris and human remains if MH370 is found.

- In a statement seen by Reuters and due to be released publicly later on Thursday, Malaysian investigators said:"In the event that the aircraft is found, the team will conduct further investigation."
- However, if it is still not found, and the decision made to discontinue the search, the report will be released "in the months ahead," it said.
- Flight MH370, carrying 239 people onboard, became one of the world's greatest aviation mysteries when it disappeared on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014.
- Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak on Thursday reiterated the country's commitment to finding the plane.
- However, if it is still not found, and the decision made to discontinue the search, the report will be released "in the months ahead," it said.
