Sigh....

Incident: Egypt Cargo A306 near Brussels on Jan 1st 2017, climb above cleared level due to misunderstood TCAS RA results in near collision

Crazy, when following a simple TCAS RA is too much for a crew then imagine when things really go wrong. Add to that that they were climbing at 2500 fpm towards a cleared level with known, reported, traffic above. Makes you wonder.....

Not the most important, but according to the report:
- (page 4) AFR started to climb 5 seconds following the RA
- (page 7) Scenario "C" AFR responds "timely" (?) and they get an extra 71 ft. How is that?

5 seconds is timely for a normal RA

2.5 seconds for a corrective RA
OPEN DES is offline
