Only reported by the tabloids because "Heathrow and Air Canada will try and keep this to themselves but that isn't right, they should inform the public because this could have been fatal."

Second attempt at this, after having had another look at the papers, most especially the Sun...
They ( and the Mail) say it was a 777-300...but the gear pictures in the Sun are certainly not of a 777-300 Main gear...Then again it seems from both articles that any file picture of any type in any livery will do to pad out the report.
As for the pilot being "in shock".......I doubt it.....

Heathrow and Air Canada will try and keep this to themselves but that isn't right, they should inform the public because this could have been fatal

The Sun manages to hedge its bets:
"Incredibly, the captain still managed to land the Boeing 777-300 without a problem and there were no injuries"
followed by
"Flight AC864 an A330 with 294 passengers on board landed normally in London and taxied to the gate"
Judging by the photos it was the right front wheel on the RH MLG - interesting that it appears to have managed to taxy from a 27R exit all the way back to T2 without ATC noticing anything amiss.

From the CBC, correcting the aircraft type while getting the flight number wrong and maybe not counting the nosewheels.

I'm not a journalist but it looks to me like the plane was probably C-GFUR, an A330-343.

Flight AC833, an Airbus A330, was carrying 294 passengers when it left Montreal with a wheel missing. It landed safely at London's Heathrow Airport. An Air Canada plane that lost a wheel before taking off from Montreal's Trudeau International Airport on Sunday evening ended up landing safely at its destination of London's Heathrow Airport.
Flight AC833, an Airbus A330 carrying 294 passengers, landed Monday morning, said Air Canada spokesperson Isabelle Arthur in an email.
She said preliminary information shows the wheel separated from the plane while it was taxiing down the runway. It was unclear whether the pilot had known about the missing wheel prior to takeoff.
Arthur said because the landing gear has eight wheels, a missing one didn't cause any issues.
The plane is being repaired, Arthur said.
In February, an Air Canada flight featuring the same kind of aircraft, an Airbus A330, was grounded while preparing to depart from Brussels airport due to damage to its wheels.
"We maintain our fleet to the highest standards and these two events are isolated," Arthur told CBC News in the email.

RTO at 82 kts, major damage to the gear necessitating a bogie replacement. Lost the forward right wheel on the RH MLG (same one as in yesterday's incident, in fact).
