Intercept by RAF Typhoons and escort to STN

Picking up a fairly serious incident on 121.5.

Can't hear the call sign but the Interceptors are telling the intercepted aircraft that if he doesn't respond to the instructions of her majesties government he is instructed to shoot him down

Minimum someone is in deep deep doo doo (or incapacitated) or it is something more sinister. . . . Oh well, I shall monitor 121.5 & watch the news as I travel Southwards.

Any idea where in the FIR? Lots of reports of a sonic boom in the West Kent area, probably from an interceptor.

Yep, that was the one call sign Mitavia, they started to get excited when he was a bit away from Lydd.

Less Vodka with the crew meal would always be a prudent recommendation.

RAF tweet

Tweet from RAF:

"Typhoons launched to intercept a civil aircraft. It was safely escorted to Stansted. Our aircraft cleared supersonic during the scramble."

Someone apparently recorded the ATC message from a Typhoon to the plane. Chilling to hear: https://soundcloud.com/egxwinfo-gr-u...via1605-291014

Police said all three people on board had been spoken to and it was established everything was in order.
Happy ending.

Heard the louder noise signature around London, thought it unusual so checked with FR24 and only thing to see was an AN26 making an a strange hook to the west. Also strange was that the normal drone of the Antonov was missing. Perhaps it was the stealth version

Unresponsive aircraft flying directly towards the middle of London.

No surprises they were authorised to go supersonic & use lethal force if necessary.

Unless you are one of the three crew involved. Suspect they may have a lot of report writing coming up.
