Big Fred was a legend in his own lunchtime when he was a lowly F/O in VEX, hope he isn't taking himself too seriously after this lucky escape

Anyhow, well done that guy, not often we get to practice Cessna type manouveres on a Boeing.

One final and important thing to mention the Falcon may well become a Birdstrike statistic itself, this has happened
Specifically at Yeovilton, wasn't it, 20+ years ago, where a patrolling falcon killed a fast jet on finals, pilot ejected? Or was that just a popular legend of the time?

MOL getting a bit fluffy, is he?

A wink at the way things were in Ryanair not long ago in the light of the company's well-deserved congrats to the crew: Ryanair's route via Rome to Damascus - Learmount.

Have things really changed, or does it just look like they have?

Do you have link to a website that confirms the aircraft has been written off? I can then add the info to Wikipedia.

Was it insured?
Or do FR self-insure?

BTW that link to 'the party' doesn't work. Got another?

It was suggested earlier on in this thread that it would possibly be repaired to avoid having a hull loss on the books ( I believe this has been done in the past by other airlines with good safety records )
Even if it didn't make sense economically ( it was however only 4 or 5 mths old ) this could indeed be a factor in the final decision.
Wonder how it is surviving in CIA, have the Italian souvenir hunters not nicked half it already.

As far as I have heard the gear and rear spar damage is not an issue to repair, however there are some dubious looking ripples on the fuselage that may indicate that the fuse has been twisted which would mean scrapping the entire aircraft. I am not sure if the final decision has been made yet.

No need to fly off the handle.
I asked if it was Insured (i.e. by an external policy) or Self Insured, which is perfectly legal.

Self Insurance

Large businesses commonly self insure for various risks. If you operate a fleet of several hundred vans, you simply budget for the fact that a predictable number will be crunched or nicked.

In most of these cases, stop-loss insurance coverage comes in at a high amount. It amounts to a policy with a very high deductable, say $100,000 to $10,000,000, depending on the size of the company and how much loss it can withstand.

These are amounts that are commonly let out to the reinsurance market.

There is a built-in incentive to keep losses down; also the high deductable saves on premium as many fewer claims are made.

Bit of an own goal there Kremin, the insurance question was asked by 5tarbuck having a small identity crisis there are we?

Couldn't possibly be that you forgot which of your schizophrenic twins to use today could it.
It rang the alarm bells BTW when I saw a post from "you" that wasn't slagging off Ryanair, obviously you logged in as Kremin by mistake and left your reasonable hat on.

Better replace it with the raving Ryanair hating leftie one normally associated with this username, or log in again as 5tarbuck if you prefer.

" I used to be schizophrenic, but now we're not sure"

Edited to say, not as funny as your contribution (Post 421) on P22 of the Aer Arran thread where we are reliably informed by Kremin that 5Tarbuck ( sic) is correct . Well of course he is, unless you want to contradict yourself, and then the old Schizo problem is REALLY out of hand

guys stop beating around the bush.....is the aircraft in the bin or are they going to repair it? For me I think its so badly bend it'll never be right. The whole fuseage took a pummeling underneath.

I remember yonks ago flying a repaired 732 (burst stringers) that had hit the deck in cat 2 approach (dont think they flared) and it was a dog after with sizeable amounts of rudder trim involved for all stages of flight.

Ah, ya got me playstation....

Actually, not really.
I share a house, and a computer, with a few other chaps, and one of them is CaptKremin.
He should've logged out. Tsk tsk.

It gave you a thrill though, eh?

But anyhow, has Ryanair paid to write off that aircraft?

Yeah right, with all that money Kremin claims to receive from Lingus, what was it now, 3 times what his counterparts (or even as he claimed Capt's )in RYR earn ? Strange having to share houses/computers, how very "socialist" indeed of you "both" Strange though how your "opinions" seem to dovetail so nicely. It must be very nice for you "both".

You can fool some of the people some of the time.

Who can tell, nothing is sacred.
Ask any ex Sabena/ Swissair/Pan Am et al employee.

Don't tell me you are living in this house of iniquity with the other two? Ryanair lovers.
Does the term schizophrenia apply with more than 2 personalities or is the upper limit 2 ?

I only ask as your other posts seem to share a certain element of the "style" of the other joker(s )

Actually schizophrenia can refer to a number of different mental instabilities. Hearing voices, paranoia are all symptoms of schizophrenia. In fact multiple personalities are actually a result of dissociative identity disorder.

Meanwhile, back in CaptKremin/5tarbuck land.....
