Thumbs down

Like many of you the new functionality is great but I cannot help feeling that the new format makes it more difficult to read the posts.

I'm particularly talking about the increased headers and addition of a bold footer to each post. Trying to follow a number of posts that are only one or two lines each meaning you've got to filter out the bits your not interested in. So why has the information that was previously in the left margin moved into a bold footer?

Edited to add below item

Just re-read the thread and my question seems similar to one of Beagle's that I missed. Guess I must agree with him.

I would like to ask the same Q as "parkfell":

Anyway - an option to spell check your posting is to open a blank word doc (or similar) - make a copy (or cut) of your post - paste it into the word doc - do a spell check there - then paste the corrected text into your post again and send it off..
A bit time consuming - but works fine..

Whaterishappeningtome

The board has been in the new format for a week and I only just noticed

The new job I started recently is taking up too much of my PPRuNeing time

(I sure ad my name to the list of members who would like to go to "last page" instead of first, after posting though)

Cool

Hi,

looks good, though the new message icons aren't as nice as the old ones.

I wouldn't miss the rating feature but apparently is has been turned off already.

Thanks for continuous improvement of a great system.

OK - hands up who likes the new PPRuNer 'categories' - 'addicted', 'beyond all help', 'keen', 'in need of PPRuNers anonymous' et al.

Hmm. Thought so!!

BEagle, I'm quite sure that these "categories" are only temporary ... Capt P goes through "spells" on occasion but usually returns things to "normal" (as if anything on here can be called normal) within a few days.

Even if he doesn't ... it's still a good measure of our humour, eh?

McD - although I'm quite happy with Danny's humour, I'd hate to see certain people who've been striving to have wrongs righted being described as 'beyond all hope' - even if it was meant in jest. For example, those relatives of those killed in the RAF Chinook crash who post on PPRuNe must please never be described as being 'beyond all hope'!

Question

BEagle, but as you yourself mentioned a couple of posts above, the description is "beyond all help."

OOPS!!

But I wouldn't like to think of them being described as beyond all 'help' either.

Question

Capt et al

You've probably already answered my questions but:-

1. Is the closing of threads that have got over a hundredish posts due to the new software and can it be fixed because we seem to be losing some of the most popular threads?

2. Is there any chance of moving "I Wish I Hadn't Said That..." from the mil forum to the humour bit on the front page for posterity cos it would be a shame to lose these fantastic anecdotes.

Thanks,
GH
