Wino, do I sense an American Airbus put down? Yes, one aircraft; utilized for fourteen and a half hours daily. Not too bad in my book.

Well, I'm due to fly the Singapore A380 on Sunday from LHR en-route Brisbane (a/c change to B777 at Changi), so I'll be interested to compare M. Airbus with Mr Boeing. Just real glad I'm not flying with BA via T5!

Nah not a put down, I've been an airbus pilot for the last 11 years. Just don't use Airbus's problems to make the plane into something that its not.

Its kind of a unique launch. (Though the 787 might wind up similar) . Only one aircraft was released to the customer for a VERY long time. That is why this happens. Usually aircraft are still being built during the certification period and a backlog of aircraft build up to be delivered as soon as the certificate is issued.

Think the A340-600 which was the last aircraft certified I think. (though Airbus calls it a A340 we both know virtually nothing is common with the original 340 except the fuselage diameter)

All Airlines fly the crap out of their aircraft as soon as they get it. Its how they make money

For years the highest time 747 was actually own by Braniff. It was called "Big Orange" or the great pumpkin. Flew back and forth between Dallas and Hawaii... over 15 hours a day, every day... Nothing unusual about that either...

Bern - if you're flying at the back of the bus, so to speak, try to get a window seat upstairs. Much more space and you get a neat little locker between you and the window.

I flew SYD-SIN-SYD last month on it and found it to be very quiet. Little or no aerodynamic noise and none of that horrible constant 'hiss' from the air conditioning. Rides turbulance like a champ too. Overall a very nice experience.

Keep an ear out on short finals as the oversensitive lagging Engs charge from zero to hero and back, chasing speed.
