I expect they diverted because they were critically low on cash

"Hazmat crews inspect Alitalia flight 9180 after it was diverted to Boston from Milan, Italy."

This has got to be the longest diversion in history. No wonder they are bust if they carry this much fuel!

Oh, the destruction of the english language.

A freight plane coming from Italy was diverted to Logan International Airport after a crack in the cargo area was discovered and passengers began smelling an odor.
How many pax would there normally be on a freight plane?

All 5 were converted to full freighters. The door is still in the back, but it's a full upper deck Cargo System now.

All four people on board Atilalia Flight 9180 are OK
Let's not get too wound up over the word "passenger", shall we?
