Pilots sue DHL daughter EAT

Pity claims for damages worth millions threaten reproach of the discrimination on grounds of the age from the 25.10.2007 of Peter Königsberger MAINZ/BRÜSSEL to the parcel and letter express service belonging to the Deutschen Post AG DHL. According to the information this newspaper four pilots of the DHL daughter European Air Transport resident in Brussels (EAT) have submitted Brussels complaints because of discrimination for age reasons to the industrial tribunal. The procedures were released by notices in May, 2006 which were explained with the fact that the more than 60 year-old pilots and Copiloten were not unconditionally applicable any more. Besides, EAT referred to regulations in France and Italy, the airlines only overflight approvals and land approvals grant which use no pilots more than 60 years. However, already in March, 2006 the international aviation organisation ICAO had decided and announced publicly that these regulations are to be cancelled. Of that in spite of EAT discontinued the pilot in May, 2006, although EAT with them had concluded unlimited contracts up to the achievement of the legal age limit of 65 years. On inquiry one claimed with the EAT to know nothing about this abolition. Also the tip of the affected persons, the French aviation authority has informed, one will take over the new ICAO rules, fruchtete not. The affected pilots are confident to get right in Brussels, particularly as they appeal not only to the changed ICAO rules, but can also rest on an EU guideline which prohibits any discrimination for age reasons. The industrial tribunal Brussels will negotiate the cases on the 16th November at the procedure number A.R.14504 / 06. It is complained on wide payment up to the achievement of the legal age limit with which a sum of clearly over two million euros might gather .A EAT was founded in 1971 and occupies about 500 employees who explain in whole Europe parcel flights for the DHL by 26 airplanes of the types Airbus and Boing. As now was to be found out, puts the EAT again to pilots whose are completely more than 60 years old.

Interesting. When we have been told for several years that EC laws now override national laws, I have wondered how the French were able to run what was virtually an individual rule regarding Age-60 discrimination in contravention to EC laws. By doing so it opens up the French government to be sued for damages by individuals adversely affected, and it is so nice to see it happening. These people have seen their lives adversely affected by unofficial rules, and those responsible must suffer the consequences! Good luck to the plaintiffs! I wondered how long that situation could go on.
