the flight in question is normally handled by a 767 ...... only now and then is an MD-11 used ...... seem to remember another MD-11 going walk-about on the grass in Shannon, a year or so ago? (think it might have been a "World ..." flying under Aer Lingus colours) ...... again, dodgy weather

Thumbs up

The flight in question is handled by a B767-300ER in the winter although the MD11 comes now and then during the Summer DAL have recently put the B777 on the route...... .Yes it was a World in EI colours that went off the end of the runway in EINN.....am begining to think can the yanks land at all in a x-wind

Just to clarify/correct a couple of things.

The Delata flight has been an MD11 since December, and will be an MD till the summer, when there's a good chance it will again be a 777, as last year. For a while in October/November, it was operated by a 767, but that was planned, as was the change to MD in December.

Anyone got the numbers on how many MD-11's have been involved in serious landing mishaps - I can recall quite a few. Newark Fed Ex of course and one that didn't get much press but would have been a total disaster was in Honolulu - the plane bounced and the pilot elected to go around - caught a wing tip and the tail skid marks were pointed right at the terminal. They just barely made it!!

I gather it's a nasty beast when the speed brakes deploy.

Cool

Irish Steve. .isn't what i posted the last time exactly what. .you posted 2days later????. .What's da story....don't ya read the posts..... .Are you one of those scurvy air guys that robbed those jobs from my mates who worked for DAL???. .Originally the aircraft on the ATl-DUB route was an L1011..then came the B767-300ER....then they put the MD11 on the route and last summer that was replaced by the B777 which is scheduled to come back this year...per my sources in KATL.. .They did also operate another B767 on the JFK route which has now been scrubbed since 9/11 and i don't think that it will be coming back..... .That's a shame because after all the codesharing that went on.....DAL eventually gave ALT a good run for their money on that route...especially since it departed 30mins ahead of the EI 105. .
