Volunteers Wanted
Do you think a system by which we link accident investigation reports to news items which appear on the forum would be a good idea?
Thorough investigations inevitably take a long time and there's usually a delay of many months (at least) between an accident and publication of the official report. Any volunteers to monitor the web sites of their national accident investigation body and, when a report is published, to post a link on the corresponding 'news' thread on the forum? Checking the site once a month should be sufficient. We have a lot of fun on the forum, but Rotorheads also serves a very valuable educational and flight safety purpose for members (and other pilots) all over the world. Members occasionally link reports to accident threads at the moment, but a more formal system so we don't miss the opportunity to learn from the investigators' safety recommendations would be useful - and might save a life. It could be yours! So ~ Is it a good idea? and Any volunteers? Heliport |
Heliport,
I would like to help as it sounds a good idea, I wonder is there a facility that enables the reports to be e-mailed to individuals from the issuing authority when they are made public ? |
Thanks. :ok:
Your offer gratefully accepted. I'll email you. Heliport |
Heliport :
Check your PMs. |
Thanks Nr F. :ok:
I'll email over the weekend. FL |
I'm up for it.
Monitoring and linking websites: no problem. Just don't ask me to provide penetrating analyses. |
Thanks Hilico. :ok:
No analysis required, just a link. I'll email you. That's the UK covered. Now let's start on the rest of the world ............. Any volunteers for NTSB? http://www.sidcupmotorcycleclub.co.u..._needs_you.gif http://www.atsb.gov.au/images/atsb_banner.jpg http://www.tsb.gc.ca/images/tsb_splash01.jpghttp://www.tsb.gc.ca/images/canada.gif http://www.taic.org.nz/images/taiclogo-200.gifhttp://www.raglan.net.nz/watersedge/Images/flag.jpg http://www.irlgov.ie/tec/aaiu/aaiu3.gif |
I'm up for doing the AAIB in Ireland. Word up yo.
|
Well since I can't contribute in many technical posts, and my lack of experience precludes me from really being valuable; this seems like a good way to help out. Count me in for the NTSB.
Please tell Uncle Sam to stop pointing at me, Ill be there eventually. Also if you could email me so we could clarify what exactly you would like from us. And by the way, Good idea. |
At least one was forgotten:
www.aaib-n.org Norwegian accident investigation board. Bigger incidents are published in both norwegian and english!:ok: |
Winnie
Was that an offer to monitor the Norwegian reports? ;) I see one of your locations is Bodo. -------------- Thanks to all volunteers so far. I'll send a briefing over the weekend. Heliport |
I can help with the Canadian links...no problem.

Heliport:
Yess I'll do that for you ENBO is only where I used to live, CYQX is now the turf for the moment, but hoping ENBR or ENZV in the near future!;) |
Great idea, with one slight change it could be even better!
Why not have "knowledge" pages relevant to certain models. It would be pro-active rather than reactive as you propose. Remember there are very few "new" accidents. A bit like the "knowledge" test taken by the London Black Cabs. Explanations of the why's and wherefores that are not entirely clear to folk before they feature under the "conclusions" paragraph in a crash comic. I can probably come up with 20 across several models off the top of my head. Bit like which bean to not put in which ear! |
I was always told never to volunteer for anything (unless it involved the Swedish netball team).
Good grief man, one could even end up being a moderator that way ;) Looks like they've got my part of the world covered already! :ok: |
I once met the norwegian netball team in a hotel in Delhi.
Didn't get to "volunteer for anything" but as work trips go it wasn't bad! RC |
I will keep an eye on the NZ CAA for you Heliport.
Depresses me but you all should get a giggle out of the BS that occurs back home.... I just hope its not me one day....:} |
Your Forum needs you
been a lurkin for a couple of years, registered this March. Now I want to volunteer. I'm in the US, but wants to monitor SE Asia.
Great idea BTW :ok: |
Heliport....
I will gladly volunteer to monitor the end of the bar at Lucy's Tigers Den on Patpong in Bangkok for you......also if something good comes up at the PHPA website.....autorotate.com . |
So far, we have ......
(Update below) ShyTorque You're right. I offered to 'help' with the forum a few years ago and the rest, as they say, is history. ;) BTW, which is your part of the world? |
