Specs Appeal
Apologies if this has been discussed before - the search function seems to be busted.
How many of you that fly commercially/instruct wear glasses? Have you ever felt the need to hide the fact you wear glasses so that a prospective employer is not put off? Only asking as I was reading about an airline pilot that always wore contact lenses for interviews as he felt this gave him a better chance of success. I'm off for a FAA medical soon and I'm praying that my eyesight won't cause any problems. Fingers crossed. Regards all, Bones |
I've been wearing glasses since I was 13 or 14. I missed the eyesight requirements for the Forces, but have held a Class 1 (UK) medical since about 1989. I did wear contact lenses, but that was when I was a copper and a) they wouldn't come off in a scuffle and b) if you stood up in court no-one knew you had duff eyesight.
I think this boils down to a confidence thing - if you think you're the right person for the job, the fact you wear glasses or contact lenses is irrelevant if you have a Class 1. |
