M I8

G'day everyone

I have a request, if people can stear me in the right direction.

I am looking for information/internet sites on noise specifications for the earlier model M I8. Basicly require information for an enviramental study that we need to submit to our local authorities before we apply to use one of these around suburban areas.

If anyone could tell me who was actually making them in the 60's as well as that may help. I believe there was a variety of companies actually involved in the earlier days.

Thanks in advance.

It's a bit hard to work out what you are really looking to do - it appears you want to operate a Mil 18 around Sydney and are looking for details of its sound footprint, and also clues on how to do an environmental study?

Lots of luck. Sydney should be spelt Nimby, it is almost impossible to put a chopper anywhere. If it is for bushfire use, then you might have a chance, but don't expect any government help.

But talk to Steven Cooper and Associates, noise specialists. Not cheap, but the best there is, and fully aware of all things to do with helicopters. Then talk to Dan Tyler of Heli-Consultants (02-9896 5030), he is the Ace From Space concerning helipads and such. Steve's phone numbers in the Sydney book, don't have one up here.

Getting Russian machinery through CASA will give you grey hair, if you haven't pulled it all out before then.:{

Ive got a web adress where you can lease Mi-8s and Mi-17s, I believe they can arrange crew, maintenance, ect. Let me know if thats any help. Only condition is that if you do end up working it in Sydney, you gotta let me watch!
As for Russian helicopters operating in Aus I believe there was a Kamov operating out of Bankstown for a while, and I have been told another one is on the way out.:ok:
