Hi All,

Does anyone have any pictures of the cockpit of G-HUEY around the mid/late 80's if possible.

Many thanks.

Nigel

Nigel,

Not sure if this FB page is of interest to you, there is a few old exterior photos on there from the 80s. You might find somebody on there with some old cockpit photos!

Hi Leon,
Would it be possible to take some pics of the cabin, flight controls, instrument panel and suchlike please.

We are due to start the restoration of our Falklands Huey AE-406 at the museum and as G-HUEY is an ex Argentinian Huey I'm hoping that the cabin features (and everything else lol) should be similar to what we need to aim for during the restoration. Obviously I appreciate that there will have been some changes so as to fly in the UK but we can make allowances for them.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Nigel

Would you like the earlier ‘white’ paint scheme or the later ‘black’ scheme? I have a few but didn't actually take many pics myself.Apart from intercom boxes there were no interior changes to the Odiham based Huey and it more or less stayed as delivered to the US Army. All of the display equipment was adapted to the floor and roof fitting points. We didn’t even empty the ashtrays!

Hi Rigga,

To be honest it's either or either. The intention is to restore AE-406 and put her back in the colour scheme she was in during the Falklands conflict so the external colour doesn't really matter. We are just trying to get as much reference material together as we can before we start with the restoration so we have an idea of what we need (406 has been completely gutted) and can start looking out for any required parts.

You might want to contact the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop; they have an ex-Argentine Huey and the last time I sat in it (albeit 20 years ago) the cockpit was in its original state. I doubt its changed much in the interim.

Hi Alan,

Many thanks for the info, it's one source I hadn't considered.
