A good rescue

A cargo ship runs aground off Newfoundland, good rescue of the crew by the Canadian Armed Forces. Good video in the news article:

One, I imagine. 20 survivors,12 miles offshore with 120 km/h winds and a Cormorant.

A Bristow S-61 picked up 32 in one trip off the MV Ludohods off the coast of Shetland.

A B-model Huey (5 seats in the back) once carried over 20 people to safety in Darwin after Cyclone Tracy back in 1975. You do what you gotta do.

indeed. In 2003 one or two of us (ie several) brought out 20-23 at a time out of Nigerian villages in S76s and EC155s. More trips meant less chance of survivors to rescue and more chance of being shot at - which we were. Hey ho, another day in paradise.

And 212s. I carried 22 out of Escravos Flow Station in when it first kicked off in 1999.

Nice job by the Cormorant crew - looks like it was a gusty wind with possible updraughts by the cliffs and the vessel rolling unpredictably due to the waves - easy to accidentally introduce the winchman to the ship's superstructure in those conditions.:ok:
