Anyone know what Dave did after leaving the RAF in 1988?

Surely someone can remember Dave. He joined the RAF in 1965, trained on jet provost at Ackington, then went the rotary route flying Wessex AND Seaking in Air Sea Rescue role. I know he served in Cypress and left the service in 1988 as Specialist Aircrew.
I would dearly love to hear anything of him either in the service or after leaving.

Have a look on Facebook as there is an 84 Sqn Group there - if he served in Cyprus in the RAF he was on 84 Sqn

There are also groups for 22 Sqn and 202 Sqn which were the two UK RAF SAR Sqns.

Cerney, I was the MTP on SAR Wing at Finn`y from `80-84,and DC was the ADJ/co-pilot from at least `81-84 when I handed over to J(?) Kirk,and changed roles to `trucking`...we also had a young holding pilot,`chinook240`for a couple of months....I recall at some point DC mentioning that he may leave the RAF as there may have been a local family business connection,otherwise ,no further information...

Sycamore could you please explain your acronyms ATP and ADJ/ Co Pilot, and their significance on an ASR flight.

MTP-Maintenance Test Pilot..responsible for ensuring the aircraft were airworthy before release back to SAR Flights,following their periodic Maintenance,and /or modification.
Adj/co-pilot- Adjutant of the Headquarters- generally the Officer Commanding`s staff officer/paper shuffler/go-to man for Wing orders/briefings/furniture re-arranger after any `carpet-shuffling episodes/hat-off,no tea,no biscuit meetings,etc...and then and some flying as well,if he could oust any of the `training staff`...ie ,if the ADJ requested one`s presence,you`d better have a clear conscience....
HQ SAR was the headquarters of the SAR Wing,containing the HQ of both 22 and 202 Sqdns and the Engineering Wing...it was not a SAR Flight..

In the early 1970s Dave was a Whirlwind helicopter pilot on 84 Sqn (B Flight) based at RAF Nicosia in support of UNFICYP. I knew him as a near neighbour living in OMQs, before he was posted back to the UK sometime in 1973 or 74. I don't know what Dave did after leaving the RAF, but late in 2000 I heard the sad news, from a mutual friend, that he had died that same year.

Someone earlier in the thread suggested he may have been involved in a family business. Does anyone else have more information on that?
