Any updates or details on what the second generation contract looks like yet, and when it is meant to start?
Speaking to some colleagues up in the Granite City and the AW139s seem to be parked up and are rumoured not to be making an appearance anyntime soon- seems strange to have ordered them so far in advance, but not using so maybe there are problems. Could it be another chapter 11 looming? They also mentioned that they have knowingly been flying outwith the flight manual supplement for years with regards the medical and rescue stowage on the 189s. Not sure if this also affects the Dutch and Irish aircraft. See it, ignore it, don't talk about it seems to be the new slogan! |

In the draught SSUN for the UKSAR2G contract, the "Measure of Effectiveness (Threshold)" for readiness is the same as the current state, being as follows.
"Lot 1, Lot 2 (Helicopter): 15 Minutes 08:00-22:00, 45 minutes 22:01 -07:59." "Lot 3 (UAV): 45 Minutes 08:00-22:00, 60 minutes 22:01 -07:59." Meanwhile, the spec the bidders were encouraged to aim for, in the next column, was as follows. "Measure of Effectiveness (Objective)" "Higher Readiness State than Threshold level for both Readiness State times" What would be nice is if this was simply a mix up with the Lot 3 figure for the UAV fleet. However, since "Discussions relating to readiness states beyond this date are ongoing." is attributed to 'an MCA spokeswoman', I remain concerned. Remind me. How long does it take to drown? A quote from the recent Parliament debate on Jan 14th 2025 by Mike Kane. https://hansard.parliament.uk/search...&memberId=4316 that’s the 60 minutes issue put to bed. Just have to find the people to keep it running. |
Can anyone advise how the next UK SAR transition is going? When might the seasonal bases start operating?
