Lat/Long<>LSD Conversion Program

Do you know where I can get my hands on such a beast? Silly ******s up here still use the Land Surface Datum.

Thanks!

The easiest way is to get a map that has both on it. Plot the point in whatever form you have then read the location in the other form.

Alternately, many GPS receivers have the option to enter alternate reference schemes. The computer will do the work for you.

Matthew,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, don't have such a map, and the GPS doesn't 'do' LSD. I know there are some computer programs out there that can do the conversion. That's what I'm really looking for!

Take care,

Dick

check out http://www.dmap.co.uk/ll2tm.htm It seems to work for the UK but not sure about where you are.

Try this site. http://164.214.2.59/GandG/pubs.html

The GEOTrans software will do what you want, but be sure to understand what it is you have and are looking for. There are other free downloads just as good, maybe better, but this site has good literature to help you understand what all the inputs are.

Cool Program!

Thanks for the lead, Matthew!! Geotrans doesn't seem to support LS Datum, so I've e-mailed their helpdesk for suggestions.

How did you come to know of this software?

Thanks again,

Dick

I use a programme called Gartrip that I obtained from http://www.gartrip.de/ (its very good and being German its rather precise ;) )

The site has a link to http://www.asprs.org/resources.html

Which I think is the fountain of all knowledge on the topic

Hope it helps you out in the bhundu

Wunper:)

Widgeon: Huh? We's a bit slow up here... Translation please, that one's too heavy for me to lift without a little help. :)

Wunper: Thanks, I'll check it out!

PS Wunper: Great program, informative website, but neither address the archaic LSD used here. As it turns out, each province has it's own LSD! Go figure!! Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
