B412 HELIPAD DIMENSIONS

Hi B412 Drivers,

Can anyone explain why the B412-FMS-62 requires a Helipad dimension of 25.9m x 22.9m for Ground Level Helipad Operations but only 18.7m x 18.7m for Elevated Helipad Operations.

My small brain is confused by the issue; if the Elevated Helipad procedure affords a higher Take-off/Landing Mass (because you can do the Dropdown profile) and the references are arguably less than for a Ground level helipad, why is the site dimension allowed to be smaller?

I have asked the Bell rep for an answer but would be interested if anyone has faced this issue before.

Thanks DB

Probably so you don't hit the tail if you need to do a single engined flyaway just after TDP.

She torque an interesting idea but why not a square dimension because the FMS does not restrict the approach direction in response THE the shape of the site,

Cat A supplement? Maybe the pad size limits how high you can vertical keeping the edge of the pad in sight before departure. Less vertical required if you have drop down from an elevated helipad. Convoluted logic to non-PC1 guys.

Sounds plausible Malabo. Also, 25.9m is 1.5D which is a standard ICAO ground level pad requirement.
