Yes, and the low frequency sound waves put the chooks off the lay too! Apparently they're also a danger to low flying helicopters, so say the NIMBYs in my area.

They do create a tremendous amount of power. Sure beats the global warming caused by burning oil and coal.

It would appear that you are the one who hasn't done the research.

Wind turbines supply power in an erratic way which is not what the grid actually wants. They require an equivalent amount of conventional power as back up if the wind stops blowing at times of peak demand.
Their construction produces all the carbon they are allegedly going to save us.

Their owners are paid millions in compensation when the wind does not blow.

There seem few grounds for disagreeing with the contention that they represent the greatest scam ever for transferring money from poor people (we consumers via our power bills) to rich people (landlords with space for turbines)

They die so that we may air condition
 

600,000 birds killed annually...one million bats killed annually..the mosquitoes that carry diseases love these things more that any person on the planet. AND these numbers are just in the U.S. As the old saying goes, "its the cure that kills ya!"

The environmental groups are nervous and scratching their heads wondering how their support for wind farms has now made them complicit in killing many millions of our precious wildlife. The windfarm planned for Texas that included thousands of windmills was completely scratched because it was predicted that that project alone would kill millions of migratory birds annually. Because of the wind patterns in the region, It would have been ideal for energy generation. Unfortunately the birds have been using the same wind patterns for thousands of years as corridors for their migration to the Gulf and into Mexico. Thank God they cancelled that project or the environmental devastation would have been catastrophic.

Across the globe, you cannot justify killing many millions of birds annually. In a short time it will take a massive negative toll on our planetary eco system.

It seems alternative energy might be all-round bad for our avian friends. I recall being taken by a guy to the Solnova generator site in Seville when we were doing a job out there. The purpose of the trip was to watch birds flying around the site.

What he didn't warn me beforehand, was that any bird flying into the reflected 'beams' anywhere near the top of the tower actually vaporised as you watched them, in a little puff of smoke.....

...not that non-renewables are avian friendly: Alberta oil sands could cost 166 million birds over 30-50 years.

Still, maybe the 300 tons of radioactive water leaking from Fukushima into the Pacific every day will lead to a new mutation of flying fish to replace the birds. :E

Thank you. This is the prime and initial reason for this whole disgusting debacle. I can think of no other example of such huge and rapid "investment" across (and offshore) the whole country (UK) in recent times, since the motorway network perhaps. Only the guaranteed access to such financial plunder ensures the compliance of the relevant parties.

The existence of the compensation scheme tells its own story. Ditto the function to consume power to artificially drive the things during longer periods of nil or ineffective wind (dressed I've seen, as an engineering "need" of the system).
