Sao Paulo helicopter crash: Pilot dead and three injured | Mail Online
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...08_634x427.jpg A helicopter has crashed onto two houses in a small town north of Sao Paulo in Brazil killing the pilot and injuring three passengers. The aircraft came down in the neighbourhood of Jaragua at 12.30pm local time on Monday and despite crashing into a residential area miraculously no one was hurt on the ground. However, the pilot named as Marcelo Melo Araújo Stella, 29, died instantly. It is believed the helicopter, which could carry up to seven passengers and a pilot, was being operated as an air taxi and travelling to Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city. Residents have described seeing the helicopter approaching the town and noticing the rear propeller had stopped. |

Given the damage to the cabin area it's a wonder anybody survived at all. Bearing in mind the reported eyewitness observation that the tail rotor wasn't spinning (it still seems to be attached in the photo)...assuming a loss of thrust to the TR in cruise flight, if you keep the speed up, should the B206 still be able to fly to a suitable landing area using the tail fin/cyclic to maintain directional control?
