ICAO designators for UK offshore platforms
Anyone able to point me the right section of UK AIP to find the ICAO designators for the UK offshore platforms in the (southern) north sea?
The Danish AIP lists all the platforms in the heliport section, the Dutch AIP has 'em in the Enroute section 2.2 other regulated airspace. Am I blind or useless at finding the right section!? |
They don't have ICAO designators.
Also in my view the chances of a "wrong deck" landing are increased if you use an ICAO designator, because the destination in the GPS/FMS makes no sense in relation to the name written on the Helideck, particularly if you are shuttling. |
Ok, then there is no point in looking any further. Thanks.
This information is just intended for my logbook, as our FMS is fed with more significant names for all the platforms we operate to. |
eivissa - There are a limited number of ICAO designators for UK Offshore platforms - the link below takes you to the relevant section in the UK AIP. (Gen Section 2.4).

I think on that list there are 10 in the northern North Sea and 4 in the southern North Sea. So insignificant from the total. I wondered why they bothered.
