For Kiwi PPRuNers!

Who has the BO-105 that has been tooling around in New Plymouth over the last week or so?

Helipro if it's HYT if it's HAX showing as registered to Oceania still.

HYT was a bargin when it arrived in nz but Oceania have gotten greedy since and later ones arriving are far more expensive.

krypton_john 29th February 2012 18:02

HAX is low time, though.

Reafidy 29th February 2012 18:41

I believe the one registered to Oceania is the Greenpeace helicopter.

Te_Kahu 29th February 2012 23:58

Greenpeace would make sense then, given their recent antics in New Plymouth.

krypton_john 1st March 2012 02:46

Oh my, just think of the carbon emissions from those twin RR250's ! :oh:

Te_Kahu 1st March 2012 08:46

A little more than a hemp bicycle I would imagine

SuperF 1st March 2012 08:50

Is the 105 brown? I've been asked who the brown machine was, I had no idea...

What's the bet lawless came in on a private jet! Bet that didn't burn a big hole in the atmosphere...

helihub 6th March 2012 08:17

A total of FOUR golden brown Bo105s were bought last summer from the UAE Police, arriving late June 2011. Two are now registered to Oceania as HAV and HAX - the latter for sale on their website here) plus a photo of it here

oh god thats ugly!

People give Bell grief about regurgitating old designs, but looking at all the Eurocopter history, i cant find any new small design to come out of france/germany recently either...

what am i missing?

Erm EC120/130?

SuperF 8th March 2012 07:30

gazelle - Lama - AS350 - 120 - 130

come on surely you can see the similarity from the 350B3 to the fat squirrel (130B4) and skinny squirrel (120)

as close as 206 - 206L - 407 -427 - 429

we have the following:

BO105 - BK117 - EC145

EC135 is a 355 mum crossed with a 117 dad.

R22 - 44 - 66...

not a problem, never fly the A model of anything! i just cant see why Bell gets the bad rap for no new products, when everyone else is really in the same boat.

If anyone the Italians have been the most innovative, and Bell had a hand in it, even tho they sold out of the 139 and 609...

Evil Twin 8th March 2012 09:53

You're right Superf I can see the similarities, however the bell similarities are far more obvious.

I'm a dyed in the wool bell fan and also of the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it school' but at least the EC product 'looks' new to the uninitiated.

The 120 & 130 are far from perfect even if hey look the part, the 120 shakes the instrument console and looks like the supports have broken on start up and the 130 isn't much better, in fact the last time I was in a 130 the high frequency vibe made it feel like the tip of my nose was going to fall off.

Looks like there is no new thinking in helicopters really.
