Simulator time

Fellow professional r'heads - would anyone care to state what they consider to be the minimum annual sim time & content (where one is available of course!) to maintain professional competences?

I would be interested to see how this varies around the world/between companies unless that is commercially sensitive.:oh:

That depends a lot upon the amount and kind of flying that you do in the aircraft.

If, for example you fly 600 hrs a year on the North sea and get a good workout twice a year for your OPC's in the aircraft then your requirement for Sim' time might be less than for a corporate guy who does 150 hrs a year and who's access to the aircraft for training is limited.

In my experience, the normal annual recurrent courses offered by sim providers range from anywhere between 4hrs and 10 hrs per pilot.

Geoffersincornwall might be able to offer some better guidance on this.

Recurrent Sim Training

How much is enough? - as much as you can afford
What should it cover? - everything you can't do in the aircraft or prefer to do safely.
What else - arrive at the sim centre with (a) a plan (b) all the docs you normally carry in the cockpit.

CTC/CP to ensure that the sim centre is aware of 'the plan' if you are using their staff.

If you want to do LOFT, Role Training, or need help with remedial training then speak to the sim centre CSFI.
