Thanks for the update. The point about single engine is relevant to the larger UAVs such as BAE's HERTI-OC which has a single engine like most larger UAVs.
BAE do make a twin UAV designed as a weapons platform.



The larger UAVs are very capable now and it is these that are also being considered by police according to documents released.

we're evaluating a UAV right now. It can silently peer into windows 5 stories up and see who's holding the knife. Hit the GPS hold and it just stays where you left it. As for replacing helos, no, but as a fast deployment multi agency ariel aid over a small area - yeah. Once the FAA can get their act together, they'll sure be hitting the amount of call outs seen by ASUs.

Impressive machine but only around 15 mins battery life, have you looked at the Oktokopter ? Would be interested in your comments!

The X6 sure has some potential - but it really is just a grossly expensive model helicopter. Battery life does indeed suck, and somewhere between 7 and 9 minutes is the reality. Control effectiveness is marginal with a wind over 10 knots and this is a serious disadvantage. Also, it is a 2 man machine. The guy looking at the images who has camera control will need to instruct the pilot to maneuver the machine to capture accordingly. It is robust though and can be deployed in 2 minutes or so. They have devised a neat vibration suppression system so the image quality is pretty stable. We'll be launching it later this week (pending winds of course) if you have any operational questions.
