Flying for filming...
Does anyone know anything about jobs in flying for filming, preferably in the US.
Ben |
In the US yes---you need:
1. To be a legal resident 2. Be in the right place/right time. 3. Know someone in Hollywood 4. Flown a bunch of different aircraft types. 5. Have a bunch of hours. 6. Most importantly---Have a SAG card. Pretty much a closed shop for an outsider. |
oh dear!
1. fail 2. well i'll be in hollywood... 3. fail, unless I meet someone 4. a few 5. probably not enough 6. fail Hmm - the only upside, is I don't want to be paid - just to do it for fun! Oh well we can all dream! Ben |

A fair point! But to be honest, doesn't look like it's going to be even close to possible.
:-) |
Hmm - the only upside, is I don't want to be paid - just to do it for fun! Do a days work---demand pay. And there is a long line of people who meet the above requirements ahead of you. Those that do this work have it sewn up pretty tight. To add--you also need to be working for a company that has an FAA approved motion picture manual and waiver. |
To echo Gordy, please do not say that on any side of the pond as you will lose the respect of any and every working helicopter pilot.

Had a conversation with a flight ops manager a few moons ago:
He: You flew a lot in the US for little money. Now you fly less and want to get paid more? Besides, you are having fun flying. Me: Left the office. Walked out of the building, never went back. |
