I use PilotLog - the online log book program for professional pilots and think it is brilliant.

If you use a Mac, there is a spectacular one written by Noah Libermann.

I've been using Logbook Pro which is very good and allows me to sync fom my PDA. Currently it works in hours and decimals of an hour but a new release is due out this year which will enable you to input using hours and minutes.

I will add at this point i have nothing to do with the company, just a happy customer!!

I've had problems with Logten Pro when it comes to sync'ing with a jailbroken iphone. But to be fair to Noah and crew at Coradine, they really went out of their way to try and get it working for me, but it just wouldn't play ball.

5/10 for their mobile version for the iphone.

Apple gave a refund for it, so nothing bad to say about LogTen Pro, but just hope others will tread cautiously if they have a jailbroken iphone. To be fair, nothing lost if it doesn't work as Apple were very good at refunding.

Just to provide reassurance WRT LogTen Mobile, I managed to get an unlocked 3G from NZ (seems to be one of the few places on our network you can do this - something to do with the local NZ consumer protection laws it is rumoured) and the synchronisation works really well, part of the secret is not to synch too many flights, after all the LTM is not supposed to be stand alone but rather a method of updating the master database on LTP.

Agree with above - Logten Pro and Mobile on iPhone work extremely well. Problems I have had were solved by Noah very quickly. Anyone starting out, military or civil, this is great because you can record anything you want which is such a help filling in those resumes later! Things I wish I had recorded from starting out:
Hoisting/winching
Load lifting
Mountain flying
A friend's logbook was a great thing - loads of photos, paper cuttings etc. Easy to do electronically now...

I made one in 'Excell'. Basic but does all the math.

How do you log this? Tick a box for each flight doing those things? Or figuring out how much of a flight was actually with a load, and logging it as "load/hoist/mountain-time"?

I just started using that one. It's called LogTen Pro. That coupled with their iphone app is amazing. It is so customizable it's not even funny. The reports are great. For example, I can print off reports in the style of the Large Jeppesen Logbooks, there's JAR FCL Compliant Log reports, 8710 reports Canadian, Australian. There's even one called RAF pilots Flying Logbook, how specific is that!

Their customer service seems to be second to none also. I needed to use it twice so far. Once to sort out a billing problem on my end(bought it initially with the wrong credit card), and once to figure out a way to customize a report in a very specific way(i'm a little anal with that kind of thing!). Both times they got me sorted out asap.

I just want to note that, I have nothing to do with the Coradine Aviation Systems company. I'm just a wee flight instructor that's very pleased with my recent purchase.

Can someone show me a program that will take all the data out of my log book into one of these programs :}:}:}:} Now that I would pay for......

I just wish I started with one of these programs. Do not even want to think about sitting down for days trying to impute data into it. :(:(:(

Very happy logTen user, although i've not felt the need to synch it with my iphone.

As regards transferring data from existing paper log book... All i did was "invent" flights that brought forward the appropriate totals from the previous log book - for example i've got one flight with xxx hours of S76, another with yyy hours of B206 etc. In the Comments column i annotated it as "Carried forward from previous log" and no-one has ever questioned it. I found it comparatively easy as long as you make sure that you list all the correct permutations of Day / night / P1 / P2 etc. It imports all the existing hours and as long as you keep the original log books then you still have the actual record of those flights.

Would have been easier if i'd had the electronic log from the start, but at the same time, i quite like that fact that all my training and my first few years of flying are recorded in a tangible form - for sentimental reasons if nothing else.

I'm currently typing each flight into LogTen, I figure I'll do it a few pages at a time when I find myself with nothing to do, until I catch up. Although I've only got 700 hours or so, so it's no big deal.

Just downloaded the software to take a look at and I find there's a thread about it!!
Wish there was a way to copy all the data out of the log book. That would be nice!!

Does anyone know if you can just put durations in as I don't traditionally record the take of and touch down times.

Also I presume that with respect to private HLS I can simply type in a name rather than an ICAO

I asked that question while on the phone with them the other day and they said that the new version is out on Tuesday(tomorrow), and that incorporates a section for private landing sites that don't have ICAO identifiers.

Oh thanks for that I've just downloaded the evaluation so I'll keep my eyes out for it tomorrow.

Hi,

I need help from someone who has a valid subscription to SafeLog?

I have been using SafeLog FAA myself through my whole career and I have close to 1000 entries in my logbook. Recently my software expired, which keeps me from exporting the data to a CSV-file. I wanna try out a different software, but only if I have the previous data in the csv-format can I import it.

Can anyone help me? I can email the SafeLog .dat-file if anyone can convert it for me?

Just paid for andownloaded Log Ten Pro.

Cant seem to find R44 and EC225 there and cant figure out how to add them in. Hoping someone here could give me a little steer in the right direction?

The log ten people are very helpful when you drop them a line. They gave me a one on one session when I was struggling by taking over your desktop.

I did find it too powerful in the end (or too complicated) and they gave me a refund. But I can't say a bad word about their customer support.

Brilliant stuff

I havent really had a chance to play with it properly yet as Ive been pretty busy but will remember that when I (inevitably) get stuck. I can see what u mean abt it being powerful tho, the customisation levels are mad.
