Character Flaws
I was thinking about the people I have flown with and the pilots I've met over the years - It struck me that most of them have some kind of 'social issue'.
What makes a helicopter pilot become boastful / arrogant / insane ...or perhaps; why do boastful / arrogant and insane people become heli pilots? Last para deleted. PPRuNe Admin |
Recognizable....... :ok:
Must be somewhere in the medical test.... they might have removed something somewhere... or maybe those electrodes they stick to your head. They did it to me as well.....:ugh: :bored: :* So what!?! |
I've just checked with the HEMS crew. They both say I'm not boastful.

The vast majority of helicopter pilots I've met are neither boastful nor arrogant but helpful and charming. If you think that all helicopter pilots are boastful and arrogant, perhaps it's just you!!! :}
Can't speak about the "insane" bit though! Cheers Whirls |
|
Aw why not Bronx? They're so sweet and appealing (just like helo pilots!) and how could you refuse those big, soulful, yellow eyes? Just think of the warm, fuzzy feeling you get knowing that you've fed a poor, helpless creature!
Cheers Whirls |
what is a 'social issue'?
|
"The average helicopter pilot, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feeling as love, affection, intimacy and caring. These feelings just do not involve anyone else."

All people are put into queues.
Being simple, I only have two queues in my life. A very short queue and a very long queue. The short queue is the one that I put people I like in. The long queue is the one that I put people in that are KNOBS!! I can move people from one queue to the other. I have moved a lot of people from the short queue to the long queue. People with 'social issues' go in the long queue. |
what is a 'social issue'? |
I want to see the last para!
No doubt an insightful, well-considered observation which would have enhanced an already relevant and thought-provoking post.:8 |
People with 'social issues' go in the long queue. tbc; which queue do people with a copy of a photo showing you, a toy sheep, some 'giraffe' coloured keks and an plastic 'knob-shaped' nose, go in?:} |
Bertie, I need you to tell me who gave you those photos. I thought they'd all been destroyed!:uhoh:
|
Bertie,
You are definitely in the wrong queue old son!! You have been moved::} |
I didnt actually say that I have a copy!
I was simply mentally scarred for life when the fearsome image burned itself permanently into my memory. ...and now I'm in the KNOB queue. |
Great pic Bertie, made me smile!
SB:D |
Say Bertie, are you the only dude that's wearing a green hat?
Mind you to be seen wearing a black hat around here, well thats got knobs on it for sure. |
This thread reminds me of that old gag...
Q: How can you tell when there is a helicopter pilot in the room?
A: Because he'll tell you. cheers, c-top |
Bertie, you should have kept quiet about not having the photos - those involved would have been obliged to keep you in their "short queue"..
|
If I'm on someones long queue and I push to the front, will I be next onto the short queue again?
|
so anyway, queues aside, what IS a "social issue"?
|
As long as I don't ask which queue I should go in, and the answer is "Far queue!!"
As to the definition of 'social issue', I think that's when you have drunken sex with a friend and she has a child. Sumfink like that, anyway. |

Looks like perfectly normal behaviour to me BT
|
That person deserves his/her own queue!!:E
|
Aha! Now we know where they got at least one of their ideas for "Little Britain".
It can't be you in the photo, Bertie. That "person" is so good looking, slim and young. And surely you aren't a natural blonde? ;) |
For mine......as the queue gets longer and longer I direct people into the FAR QUEUE.

Dump the pole,
I have flown fixed wing, helicopters and SAR (ie rescue crewman).. I think anything aviation related attracts the crabs.. I found helo pilots the most sane (or less insane). |
what is a 'social issue'? DtP - i am also puzzled by the (minority) that you mention. They do exist in other industries. Maybe the single pilot work creates less requirement for collaborative types plus many haven't been through military/large company selection. |
