Schweizer headset US vs European
Hey, I am over in Florida getting my FAA PPL(H) and Im thinking about buying a headset for the schweizer (300cbi) while Im here. Im getting a sneaking suspicion that there is a different connection port for the Schweizers over in the US with the European version? Does anyone know if my headset here will work if I bring it home? Thanks for the help! |
headset plug
my 300 has got a brass plug but you can get adapters to suit most types
|
Adapter is about $70.00
Adadpter US to UK is about $70.0 and yet another piece of crap hanging off the ceiling, so unless you are going back to US just buy a uk nato plug and solder away!! or buy your local avionics shop techie a case of cool ones and he will rattle it off in about 5 mins.
He might even have a shagged out old UK spec headset that can donate the plug (another case of cool ones). It always pays to have a mate in the avionics shop - trust me!!:ok: |
Watch out if you go the adapter route. I bought adapters for my rear seats haedsets, albeit the other way round (bronze female to silver male). They did not work. After a bit of searching, I found a wiring diagram and it turns out that the adapters had been soldered wrong: the various connection points are different bronze to silver.
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...highlight=nato Half an hour with that post and a soldering iron sorted it out:ok: |
Hey thanks guys!!
I'll just go ahead and pick up a headset here so. The cost outweights the need for an adapter or a bit of soldering I might need down the road. Cheers |
